What we do

When you face a problem with your energy provider it can feel like you’re on your own. We’re here to help you resolve your energy complaint and move forward without extra stress.

The Extra Help Unit supports people across England, Scotland and Wales and our service is free. We act on behalf of vulnerable consumers and have powers to investigate energy complaints.

So you can rest easy, knowing that a dedicated professional is working to get you the best possible outcome.

 

Who we help

The Extra Help Unit is a team of expert caseworkers that exists solely to help you get through difficulties with your energy supplier. We can help you if:

  • You are unable to deal with your supplier on your own because of personal circumstances.

  • You feel overwhelmed and don’t know how to resolve your problem.

  • You are struggling financially, for example you’re falling behind on your energy payments or unable to keep your prepayment meter topped up.

If you run a small business and are experiencing problems with your energy supplier we may be able to help you too. Certain restrictions apply. Find out more.
